Orscheln Farm & Home Brings Learning To Life For Indianapolis High School Students

(Indianapolis, Indiana – September 28, 2011)
Orscheln Farm & Home and Field Trip Factory today announced that the winner of the 2020: An Entrepreneurial Odyssey Business Plan Contest is Bud Wainscott’s Economics class, from Indianapolis Christian School. For its prize, the class will have the opportunity to run its local Orscheln Farm & Home store, located at 1875 East Main Street in Greenfield, Indiana on Wednesday, October 5th. 2020: An Entrepreneurial Odyssey is a business learning field trip hosted by Orscheln Farm & Home and created by Field Trip Factory. The Indianapolis Christian School Economics students went on the field trip to experience a behind-the-scenes look at the business operations of a real retail store. They then used what they learned to write a future oriented business plan for Orscheln Farm & Home stores in the year 2020. In their plan, the students noted, “With advances of technology many products have been modernized to provide convenience” and thought through what might be attractive to consumers in the shopping experience of the future.

On October 5, the students will work alongside Orscheln Farm & Home employees and experience the daily store operations up close. Last year’s winners got creative and had fun building a holiday display. In addition to providing students this valuable real world experience, Orscheln Farm & Home will commemorate their achievement by donating $100 to the school for supplies.

Congratulations to students Michael Wilson, Logan Pierson, Stacia McMillian, Micala Dye, school administrator Ms. Betty Speight and Economics teacher Mr. Bud Wainscott for creating the winning entry. David Hult, Orscheln Farm & Home Director of Store Operations said of the effort “It’s inspiring to provide an opportunity that allows the next generation to experience the real world of business and to showcase their own unique talents and creativity.”
